Golden Lotus is a musical based on the most infamous Chinese novel of all time, Jin Ping Mei. It tells the story of a beautiful and captivating woman caught in a dangerous web of passion, deception, and desire. Set against the dying, war-torn years of Song Dynasty China, this internationally acclaimed rock musical unfolds as a sweeping journey in a world on the brink of collapse.
Its world premiere received the Hong Kong English Drama Award for Best Original Work. Captured live and adapted into a feature-length film, Golden Lotus has earned over 60 international film festival awards, including Best Picture of the Festival at the World Independent Cinema Awards in Edinburgh, Scotland. This achievement crowned Golden Lotus as the best film from Film Fest International's 11 annual festivals across Europe.

The musical stars Harriet Chung, and is written and composed by George Chiang, both of whom performed in the Stratford Festival’s production of Salesman in China.
